What If Everything Was The Same? Exchange of Vacuums

Sophie Reinhold

Real good painting as a treat at the end of the year: Sophie Tappeiner presents Sophie Reinhold.
When looking at art I always ask myself whether, if I had it at home, it would „do something with me“. Render everyday life easier, inspire, be a good influence. Which for me is the case with Sophie Reinhold´s paintings as they open up spaces for reflection and contemplation. They do each have their one title, but they have more than just one layer of meaning. There is no giant index finger hammering on a sole definition.

Some of the shown pictures reference to antique myths, some contain realistically painted as well as graphic elements which remind me a little of Jean Cocteau´s drawings. Some are completely conrete. All of them have smooth, shiny surfaces. An effect one can imagine to culminate in the large graphite painting like a blind mirror.

The reticent colouring does not weaken the pictures but works as a meaningful element adding to their special and open atmosphere.
Paintings that express things which cannot be formulated differently.
