Farbe & Licht
Nikolaus Korab, Ulrich Plieschnig
Color and light, the two main ingredients of visual art, meet here in two great contrasts: on the one hand Ulrich Plieschnig's paintings, bright and as if flooded with light, and on the other hand photographs by Nikolaus Korab, dark and nocturnal, yet sharply outlined. The photographs taken in Venice, unusually deserted and quiet for this city, in all shades of darkness, radiate an almost compelling calm - as when walking alone and completely unobserved through the city, but also with the possibility of getting lost from one minute to the next.
Ulrich Plieschnig in his works, which are created according to the principle of controlled coincidence, plays with the perception of nature and its essence reflected in painting. He primatily uses harmoniously shaded colours in gray and ochre, taking up mainly orange for accentuations.
An exciting contrast!
